Silver & White Conifers
Conifers that have a silvery hue add a burst of bright color in the landscape. Some varieties show silver-white needle undersides while others have such a light blue coloration that they appear silver! Many silver-colored conifers are also useful to plant in shady areas of the garden because their light-colored foliage prefers indirect sun. The varieties on this page show silver or white color either seasonally or year-round. On each product page, a full description as well as growth information is provided. Find the perfect golden conifer for your garden by using the search filters on the left to meet your needs.
COLOR
“Silver” is a category we use for describing conifers with remarkably light-colored foliage, including everything from the silver undersides of the needles on Korean Firs (Abies koreana) to the silver-blue color of some Chamaecyparis or Colorado spruces (Picea pungens).
LANDSCAPE USES
This color palette looks especially stunning when contrasted with a dark green or burgundy color! The shimmering color of these conifers also provides an excellent backdrop for brightly colored blossoms like tulips or peonies.
GOOD FOR SHADE
It is often tricky to grow conifers in the shade, as many of them only thrive in full sun. However, many of the silver-white conifers feel right at home in a shadier part of the garden since their light-colored growth can burn in direct sun.
If you are looking for a conifer with unique coloration, one of our silvery selections is sure to become a stunning focal point (and one of your favorite plants) in your garden!
