Strap-leaf Maples
“Strap-leaf” maples are very unique and distinct from the other leaf types. Their extremely thin leaf lobes are long and finger-like, taking on the shape of straps or ribbons. This is one of the less common leaf types, comprising only a small fraction of the varieties available. However, in recent years, many new cultivars have become available. One particularly collectible variety is Fairy Hair which arguably has the thinnest leaf lobes of any Japanese maple. Conifer Kingdom offers an impressive selection of Japanese maples that have various leaf types, including numerous varieties with lacy leaves and palmate leaves. On each product page, a full description as well as additional growth information is provided. Find the perfect Japanese maple tree for your garden by using the search filters on the left to meet your needs.
LANDSCAPE USES
Since these maples have such a finely-textured foliage, they contrast nicely with the rigid textures of many pines and spruces. Low-growing varieties are ideal for growing near building where a taller tree with large leaves would be out of place. Strapleaf maples add a unique texture that few other plants can offer.
Whatever application you have in mind, if you are looking for a maple that has a delicate leaf and compact habit, a strap-leaf maple is an excellent option to consider.
