Metasequoia - Dawn Redwoods

METASEQUOIA ATTRIBUTES

Dawn Redwood is a deciduous conifer in the Cypress family. The fossil record shows that there were three species extant in Europe, Canada, and the northern U.S., but there is only one living species now, M. glyptostroboides, and it is native to central and western China. It is conical in shape, growing at a fast rate of 24” per year. It reaches 70‘-100’H × 15’-25’W at maturity, and 20’-25’H × 8’-10’W in ten years. Dawn Redwood has soft, bright green needles that turn a golden-brown in the fall, and .75 long, oval, tan-colored seed cones. It grows best in rich, humusy, constantly moist soil that is well-draining, and is hardy to USDA zones 5 to 9. Check out our diverse selection of Dawn Redwood for sale at Conifer Kingdom!
