Picea omorika is native to western Serbia and eastern Bosnia and Herzegovina. It is a narrowly pyramidal spire that grows 10’H × 6’W in 10 years. At maturity in cultivation it typically grow 40’-60’H × 15’-20’W, and can grow to 100’ high in the wild. The flattened, dark green needles have silver stomatal bands on the undersides, and the 2”-2.5” long, pendant cones are dark purple-red when young maturing to brown. Serbian Spruce will grow in USDA zones 3 to 9 in rich, well-draining soil in full sun or partial shade.
