Abies koreana is an unusually beautiful tree native to the mountains of South Korea. It has a conical to pyramidal, compact shape with horizontal branches. The fragrant needles are short and wide, and curl slightly upward from the stem. They are dark green above and glistening silver beneath. Three inch long blue or purple cones sit upright on the branches and provide an ornamental contrast to the dark green foliage.

Korean Fir grows at a rate of 4”-6” per year, and becomes 5’-10’H × 3’-4’W in 10 years and 15’-30’H × 6’-12’W at maturity. It does well in full sun to partial shade in moist, slightly acidic, well-draining soil. It is an excellent tree for southern climates.
